DESCRIBING THE GHOST OF A SHADOW I CONTRIVED

MAY 26, 2013

there’s the hope, of course, that they will like
what they see
is
a carefully projected version of myself
standing out, perhaps, from
the rest
go on about their lives and maybe
notice
me smiling, with friends, to say
i have friends
to say
they like what they see in
the quoted words, the rude extended portions of
my private contemplation
is
the hope that, scrolling, through
pages of
other greedy hands, raised for their attention, some will
notice mine, notice me, and like
the shape of what they see
is
precisely what i show them, but i’m not afraid to
hide? no, not one passing portion of
this active thoughtful man
sharing pictures,
sharing words and maybe hope and maybe
some sense of this as
art
will filter slowly through and
take the place of all i’d hoped, will stop me wishing
if I only
never stop confiding to
invisible sideways-watching masses
scroll through these occasions
and
please, oh please believe that
everything i’ve shown
here:

this is me.
